You should try his near-field, sideways speaker orientation. It seems to fly in the face of good sense, but it will blow your mind!I'm afraid that I have no experience with the RS magnet wire, but my speaker cables are comprised of woven Litz wire in a Teflon jacket. It's very similar - just quite a few more strands of even thinner wire (each of which is coated with enamel).

It was a major PITA to terminate - had to create a makeshift solder pot. I ordered the melting ladle from Pollard Water for $11.00; the rest of the stuff was already on hand.

Dip and skim and dip and skim and...what a mess! In the end, however the enamel melted away and was replaced by a nice tinning of silver solder.

If you're going to solder enamel coated wire, there's really no better way than with a solder pot. If, like me, you don't own one, you just have to get creative. Sorry, I don't think this was the type of response for which you were searching. I do like these wires though.

It sounds like your MMGs are giving you pleasure, and that's the name of the game. Your enthusiasm and your prose make for entertaining reading - keep 'em coming!
