RE: New OLD MMGs - Many Wow's - 2 big concerns

Alright, gang here's the skinny on last night's experiments 11PM-3AM Sat:

A. After the major improvement noted by jumpering the fuses, I went for the mod given by Wazoo earlier in the thread. It just makes a better fuse/jumper bypass, it is reversible...and it is sooo easy! Plus nothing is now hanging out ugly the way I had it.
RESULT: No further "objective" audio improvements were noted THEN. Yet, early this morning, briefly jump-listening to Celine Dion, Diana Krall and other singers -- no singers tried last night -- a certain edginess MAY have vanished (more testing needed without other mods).

B. Downrazor is to BLAME :) for me going to bed very late. This is for reminding me that I had yet to try the 100% vertical solution. Well, I'll be darned!
RESULT: This made a SUBSTANTIAL improvement on the harmonics issue. I suspect time-aligment is at play. I was playing a 2-disc full version of Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet (lossless flac via E-MU 0404USB) when I tried full vertical. I just sat back and listened to ALL of it, unable to pull away from the GREATLY improved sweetness in the string sections. While this is still not as good as I'd like to have, it definitely is getting in the range of what I can live with for now (given other virtues of the MMGs).

BTW, as Dawnrazor correctly surmised, my MMGs are not far from one good position (3.5ft. clear behind, 2ft on sides, 8ft apart). These babies do reveal minor system changes quickly! I may yet discover better positions and keep thinking that Travis will not let me forget trying.

In the meantime, Downrazor may SPOIL :) yet another evening for me if he explains about the use of the magnet wire for speakers. I bought some at RShack today. What is not clear is if just one thin strand is indicated (talk about going against common sense! which I like) or a combination of threaded wires per terminal.

Thanks to all!
