RE: Large Format Panel Type Speakers and Image SizeIMO

I would suggest you stick to your plan to get the model 30. Whether you go there or stick to the 20.7, I think your amp is a limiting factor. (1) The VTLs do not do kt120s or kt150 which I think are more dynamic and vivid sounding. (2) I don't expect the 300 W/ch is sufficient to make the most of the 20.7 dynamic capacity when run full range.

Several amp makers have high power models using kt120s or 150s. Manley and CJ perhaps. Don't know if they do non feedback designs as VTL does.

Keeping the VTLs, you might want to try different kt88s etc. from JJ or Gold lion among others, or splurge on NOS tubes.

You can probably do better with your VTLs running the 20.7 with subwoofers to take off the bottom octave's power demands. You would need a top notch crossover and subwoofer and lots of work to get it set up and integrated well. It complicates the system, but the added capacity on the bottom octave and lightening the load on the VTL main amps would be worth the effort and expense just as well as upgrading to the 30.
