RE: Frame Adjustment

It's not a frame adjustment...more like a cover adjustment. The Apogee cover which mounts over the frame, sits on two pins at the top of the frame. It's also held in place, at places on the frame face by velcro strips. There is also a bolt holding the cover in place at the bottom of the cover.

To remove the cover:

Lay the speaker on it's back (not on the floor...raised off of the floor), remove the feet (stands)...remove the bottom bolt. Lift the cover up from the bottom (you will hear the velcro strips as they release), and then push towards the top so the cover lifts off of the two pins it's resting on at the top of the speaker....very easy to do with the smaller Apogees like my Stages.

Your question: "How would you be able to distinguish a rattle that is foam related vs a frame related one?"

I don't know. I do know that when I bought my Stages and listened to them for the first time in my system, the right Stage had some kind of bass rattle? (buzz?). I removed the cover to investigate...and, no noise with the cover off. I put new velcro strips on the face and some duct tape over the metal pins...all fixed.

As far as the "foam rot buzz" goes...I've never heard it, none of my two pair have it yet.
