I've used a couple of Grundig NF2 power amps, they are fairly sought after in Germany, though comparatively inexpensive as they don't look very pretty! They are a simple push pull design with solid state rectification, 2 EL84's per channel driven by ECC83 input stage. I bought some originally for my first 57's, as they have a similar output rating to the Quad II's, but are a lot cheaper. But still a very good amp.Looking at the amps you suggest I guess you are US based, but I have seen a couple of NF2's come up for sale in the US on ebay previously.
Good luck, whatever you go for. One question, why are you only looking at EL84? Throwing a bit more power the way of a pair of 57's won't hurt, specially if you have clamp boards fitted.
