Re: Running in

The better the electronics, the better the QR sound. The tonal balance depends on a lot of things but a big percentage of it is speaker related of course.

I had my 1.6QR driven by Krell KSA 150, CJ Premier 11A, Odyssey Stratos monoblocks, Threshold Stasis S500, 300B SET amp, Dynaco St-70, Eico HF-30, and now by the ICE H2O S-250 (soon to be mono's I hope) and each of these amps have different characteristics as to one's own "tonal balance" preference per se. In the end, the 1.6QR will let you know if the electronics behind it is a match or not.

If you can audition the 1.6 again after some time before deciding, try to move the speakers (toe in etc.) and see if you can discern some changes in sound to your preference. This way you will know that placement alone plays a big part in getting the best of the maggie sound, let alone the electronics driving them. I did this and brought my amp with me when deciding between the 1.6 and the 3.6.

FWIW, my electronics when riding the "find your amp that best suit your maggie' wave are, and still is, as follows:

Teres 255 TT
Jolida JD100A
Supratek Preamp

goodluck
