IMO, there are some "truths" in relation to Maggies:
1. a high-power, " good-sounding " amp will normally make Maggies sound better than a low-power good-sounding amp.
2. a high-power, crap-sounding amp (like, typically, a "pro" amp) will drive Maggie loud and probably give her lots of "dynamic impact" ... but will not make her sound as "likeable/listenable" as a lower-power, good -sounding amp. Typically, the highs will not sound as good with the pro amp! :-))
3. if your XO is set up to biamp then a low-power, good sounding amp on the tweeter and a pro amp on the woofer may well sound pretty good ... and more attractive than the low-power, good sounding amp by itself.
4. when trying to choose a "good sounding" amp, various factors are important for Maggies ... including low output impedance and a good power supply. Just because an amp is 200wpc into 8 ohms does not automatically mean it will drive Maggies better than a 100wpc (into 8 ohms) amp.

Andy
