Great post, loon ...

it was extremely informative. I can now see that it's the milli-second current thang that will spark Maggie up! :-))

So, can you possibly give me your opinion on which would be the better way for me to go, regarding an upgrade to the amp which drives just my IIIA base panels (regrettably, I cannot affort a monster VTL or Pass :-( !!):

* go the whole hog - adding a beefed up power supply and another two pairs of output transformers. This turns a 218w (into 4 ohms) amp into a 436w amp?

* just install the power supply from the 436w amp into my 218w amp?

The reason I ask this is that the other evening I put a scope across the base-panel terminals while I was playing some rock music. Playing louder than I normally listen, the scope showed that my peak power was around 10w (out of 218w!!) ... so I wouldn't think that sheer watts is gonna be much use to me but a higher-peak-current PS may well be?

Regards,

Andy
