to make a long story short ...

... the difference between the lumped parameters & an infinite number of them is .... that the lumped parameters predict the lowest reactive instability huge Q-spike in a low-pass filter ... whereas the infinite series of tiny parameters isn't a low-pass filter at all. Instead it produces a NYC skyline of enormous instability above the frqunecy predicted by the simple model which for most cables is just above 100kHz.

You know as well as I that these resonances produce large resistances. These Zobels short out these resistances much like a conjugate notch filter on a conventional driver for an XO. This one reason why many amps include Zobels internally. If yours doesn't & is not a feedbackless design, I highly recomend placing the Zobel at the amplifier. This bypasses the ultrasonic garabage which produces audible IMD from stabilizing feedback circuitry.

I choose to use a Nyquist frequency f3 Zobel because it's in the ballpark & it makes CDs sound better. Yes, I have all the CD tweaks (destatic, polish the surface, have after market cabling, circumcize & mark the edge, use a CD mat, aurio MIB, & a Shakti:Online). I still like Zobels set at the Nyquist frequency.
... just my 2¢
