Victim of identity theft

This morning Chase Bank called me about my MasterCard account, saying that they had rejected an attempted online charge with the card and disabled the account, and they asked whether it was a valid transaction. It was not, and apparently they had caught it early. One transaction of $56 had been processed but there was a queue of several attempted purchases from online merchants totalling thousands of dollars that were stopped.

This was a credit card that I used exclusively for online purchases (and conversely it was the only credit card I used online). The scumbags apparently do have my name, billing address, and phone number. From now on I will make all my online purchases using a "virtual" credit card number. My Chase account doesn't have this feature, but one of my other cards does, where you can login and obtain a unique credit card number that can only be used once.

I've heard some horrible identity theft stories, and I got off pretty well so far. What's the next step? As a precaution I had my banks reissue my other credit cards (I only have a few), but should I do something with the credit agencies?
