Luminator

Starting in 1992, Elf Land was razed, to make way for Colleges Nine and Ten.

In the weeks after the '89 earthquake, my roommate said that he had gone with friends to Elf Land. Students used sticks, to make little shelters. There, they would smoke pot, and do 'shrooms.

I could be wrong, but I *think* it was late January or early February 1990, when I caved in to peer pressure, and went one night with dormmies to Elf Land. Each person brought a flashlight. We sat in a circle, and got naked. One at a time, each individual would stand up, shine the light on his or her face, and make a little admission or confession. My lament or gripe was, "I am an audiophile. But as a penniless college kid, I can't do anything about it!"

In 1992, some students climbed up the trees in Elf Land, to protest the latter's impending clearing. I'm not sure if those students had to be removed, or if they simply came down on their own accord.
