Inmate Central, where civil and family-friendly discourse about off-audio topics (other than religion and politics) is welcome.

Oh, I hear you.

I don't see EVs as being "green" or as the solution to global warming. The correct solution to GW is no cars, or at least far fewer of them and far fewer miles driven (and flown).
And realistically, I'll never own an EV. They're just too expensive and I don't drive much. Spending $30K on a car, for me, is a complete waste of money. If I had to replace my car, it would be with something used, rust free, with a manual transmission. Even if it's a dumbass SUV.
But when I look at the contortions that car makers are putting the ICE through--variable valve lift, cylinder deactivation, direct injection (and more and more often it's direct AND port injection), teacup engines with turbocharging, well, it seems like an EV is a better choice for most people.
No oil changes, no checking the oil, no head gasket to fail, no timing chain to break, no EVAP system, no exhaust system, no fuel system, only a rudimentary cooling system...there's a lot less to go wrong with an EV.
It's why dealers in the US don't want to sell them. Their business model is based on charging exorbitant rates for service and repairs.
And yeah, I worry about guns, too. I avoid any event that involves crowds and alcohol because gunplay is always a possibility and I don't to get caught in the crossfire.

The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
