My old friend from high school, Jules, lives "down the street from me." She recalls, "We used to wolf down our food. I used to eat as much chocolate as I could. 'Cuz if I didn't eat it, my brother would."
She adds, "But as we get older, it's more about quality , not quantity."
She's got a point. Ever since 1994 or so, more and more of our friends weened off of mass market candies, and went on treks for better stuff. It's been hit or miss.
About 10 years-old is Hu Chocolate. At least here in the Bay Area, their bars cost the same as, for example, Chocolove and Endangered Species.
Hu chocolates aren't smooth; you can taste and feel the kind of clumpy innards. Some bites feel hand-made. You'll have to judge for yourself, if you like that. You'll just have to see for yourself, if this has the right sweetness for you.
Jules is kind of "take or leave it," regarding Hu. She says, "I won't go out of my way to get it. But if it's there, I might pick up a bar, instead of the alternatives." Nevertheless, she says, "With options like this, I have NO reason to get mass market junk. Most times, I'd rather save my money, and not get anything at all."
