No, the two cities are 30 miles apart, however the mid-cities sprawl has just about filled the gap. So in that sense, yes, they've merged.
Like Will Rogers said "Fort Worth is where the West begins and Dallas is where the East peters out." Sadly the charm of Ft. Worth is rapidly disappearing and it's catching up to our neighbors to the east. There are no panthers sleeping in the streets anymore.
