Echoing what you said ... I too am a Brooks B17 maven that has no padding.
I never even heard of sleepy-peepee (SP) until I switched from a B17 to a gel-pad saddle. Although at the time I was using that padded thing I never made the connection between the padding and the bouts of SP.
Many years later, having switched back to a B17, I have yet to have another instance of SP. So, I've come to the conclusion that padding is bad ... unless of course you enjoy SP. For me it was never the going to sleep part that bothered me, it was the waking up part.
