Only brand of tire I've ever had fail catastrophically in-service was Firestone.
The first one was a 721 radial while driving my mom's 1973 Ford LTD, the next one was while driving my sister's 1979 Honda Accord, and the last one was while driving a Mercedes L1316 truck circa 1981. All the failures (blowouts) happened at highway speeds, and most importantly they were all on the rear. Had they been fronts, the outcomes could have been far more serious.
