Has anybody done the math?

My daughter's car gets ~ 30 mpg.

At the proposed 6¢ per mile, those 30 miles means $1.80 in taxes. The current taxes on a gallon of gasoline in my state (combined state & fed) is 38.4¢. I struggle to understand how a near five fold increase is justified.

I have no problem with a mileage tax, but it's got to be fair and equitable if it's meant to be a replacement for the current motor fuels taxes.
