I try to buy local as much as possible. Yingst Appliance has been here for 60 years or more with the grandkids running it these days and we buy all of our appliances from them.

For hardware stores, we lost our last hardware/lumber yard a couple years ago because they couldn't compete anymore and the several acre property on the main drag was worth millions. Too bad, because it was a full service lumber yard with milling and whatever you needed. And unlike Lowes or Home Depot, the lumber was straight!
