How long does your cell phone battery last? A couple years? Most people get new phones instead of getting a new battery.
Now, take EVs. The battery is only guaranteed for typically 8 years or 100,000 miles. Then, you can get a bill for $20K for a new battery. An ICE can be replaced for a fraction of that price and most engines these days will go for 250,000 miles or more.
