Nope, they're working to kill roof top solar for the profit of the public utilities. The only folks that might benefit are low income folks that can't afford solar.

Our Assemblymember Tasha Boerner Horvath just sent me email spam touting the good work they're doing for climate change.

Climate change is here, and hotter summers will continue to become the norm. Governor Newsom and my colleagues in the state legislature have passed an ambitious climate plan to combat the crisis and make our state more resilient in the face of rising temperatures.

The good part is in the link below, here's part of the plan:

They approved measures that will require the state to become carbon-neutral by 2045, produce 90% of its electricity from clean sources by 2035, create safety zones around oil wells near homes and draft rules for carbon capture technology , which seeks to pull emissions from the air and inject it underground.

snip...

Nevertheless, Newsom said the sweeping plan would help California cement its status as a national leader on climate policy while simultaneously making sure the state has a reliable power supply.

And wait for it....

Newsom also used the looming threat of potential power shortages to nudge lawmakers to back one of his key priorities: keeping Diablo Canyon, the state's last nuclear plant, open up to five years longer than scheduled.

That's it? That will solve the energy problems???

Where are the new nuclear plants and the plan for more storage for solar and more incentives for rooftop solar? Nothing. They're going to incentivize solar users to buy their own batteries for $10-20K to avoid being punished for using any power from 4-9PM while charging solar owners an $8/kW per month or about $40/month for a typical system and doing away with net metering.

It'll cost us about $2K a year or more.
