According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the average U.S. household consumed approximately 877 kWh per month in 2019 but it can vary from anywhere between 700 and 2000 kWhs.
In California, the average miles driven per year is 12,524.
Therefore, a Tesla owner would need 355 kWh per month to drive an average of 1,044 miles per month, neglecting charging inefficiency. The average electricity usage would then increase by 40%, from an average of 877 kWh per month to 1,232 kWh A two EV car family would need a total of 1,587 per month, an 80% increase!
Do the math.
