I mean, maybe you'll see something like this outside your door -- not venomous, so not sure if that would be more or less welcome than a snake.
Where we live (northern New England), virtually all the snake species are harmless. Further south in the US, or in, say, Australia... the odds aren't quite as heavily in one's favor. ;)
