Finally, a little track-time yesterday...

...not a great track, and not the most ideal conditions, but good enough to get a feel for the capabilities of the car (the SF90).

It's an old airport (cargo, not passenger) owned by a group of car enthusiasts, mainly auto dealerships. The runways have been fitted as drag tracks, and then connected/modified as a short road course. You can either rent some time, or become a "member". It has all of the obligatory timing/tracking devices to record and provide you with your results.

If you want, you can even rent space in the hangars/warehouses to store your vehicle(s). Kind of like dry-docking your boat for the winter, you can stash your car(s) in a climate-controlled facility for the winter.

So--the results of three 1/4-mile runs. 0-60 mph--2.52 sec, 2.40 sec, and 2.29 sec. Full 1/4-mile--9.72 sec, 9.46 sec, and 9.29 sec. Hottest "backstretch" lap @182.72 mph--it's too short for me to be comfortable going into the turn any faster. But based on the experience, I have no doubt that (given enough straight track) the car will meet or exceed it's claimed top-speed of 211 mph.

The sound of a Ferrari twin-turbo V-8 approaching 9K rpm is a thing of beauty--better than any album I own. Yes, I wore a helmet, yes I wore my Nomex jumpsuit, yes the car has a fire extinguisher in the cabin. And NO--my insurance doesn't cover antics like this, but the new-car warranty does in the event of a mechanical failure--I checked on that when I had it serviced/unlocked.

A couple pics next to one of the hangars (nasty cell-phone pics). And yes, that "mail slot" is the rear window--I hate that, but I didn't buy this car--it was an engagement gift.

"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
