The first few "car events" of the season are always interesting...

...and yesterday was one of our first few, now that the salt is gone and the weather is fairly nice.

There are definitely different "groups". Some are guys that have had the same car for decades (in some cases, generations). Some acquired something new (to them) over the winter. Others are rolling-out their "winter project" for the first time.

It's always cool to see what shows-up at the first few gatherings of the season. There's the "usual suspects" and then a whole new crop of "something new". Yesterday was just one of our primarily-local gatherings--no judging, trophies, or entrance fees for anyone--owners or observers. A few food-trucks always show-up too, so those guys get to make a few bucks. The city doesn't even require/charge permits for them--just their health dept. certification.

Of course, there are always a few "for sale" signs in the windows. One really piqued my interest, but I need another car like I need a brick upside the head--a "bumble-bee" Miata--bright yellow, black interior and top, and a twin-turbo rotary under the hood--with dyno slips showing ~425 hp. It had all the "right" wheels, brakes, and suspension upgrades too.

Sergiy went with me, and had a great time. He couldn't believe the variety of vehicles there and how obsessed some people are about them. He was fascinated with the American "land-yachts". He's traveled Europe extensively, but never been to the US before. Cars that measure more than 20' in length and having engines 7.0+ L displacement weren't common like they were here.

So how is your weekend going?

"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
