RE: We adopted.

We aren't rich. We make a decent middle class living, I'm an accountant at a manufacturing plant, wife is a community college professor. We adopted a mixed race child, Hispanic/white. She ended up having serious health issues; we didn't know it going in, but it wouldn't have mattered.

There are lots of families that want to adopt. When we adopted, there were 13 unsuccessful couples for every successful adoption. I think the ratio is much higher now. We were damned fortunate, and we know it. For many, race/health does not matter - if you truly believe God made us in His image, it cannot.

Admittedly, adopting an older child was not for us, at least starting out; we considered it for later, but our daughter's health issues pretty much absorbed all our efforts (and resources). Which was fine. We had friends that did, the successful ones had 'blended' families of biological and adopted kids.

Back for a bit again. Ignore me if you like.
