Is it dyed as well?

It's been years since I have dealt with home heating oil. I know aviation fuels are color-coded (dyed) so you can tell the grades apart.

The older diesels will run on almost anything combustible. I've seen them set-up to run on used/filtered fryer grease. My buddy (who is a shop foreman for a Honda dealer) used to have an older Dodge with the Cummins diesel that he had set-up to run on a blend of used transmission fluid from the shop. He didn't have to buy as much diesel, and they didn't have to pay to dispose of the used transmission fluid--win/win.

New ones can't do that because of the DEF injection and DPF systems.

"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
