Inmate Central, where civil and family-friendly discourse about off-audio topics (other than religion and politics) is welcome.

You computer geeks had all the fun with audio/video...

...us biology/chemistry geeks just had to make our own weird "fun". My PhDs are in microbiology and biochemistry and I have a D.A.B.T.--board-certified toxicologist.

One of our "antics" was cooking a 22lb totally frozen turkey in less than an hour--in an ancient, but just freshly rebuilt, autoclave. 220 degrees C (~428F), and 4 atm pressure (which is roughly 4 bars or 60 PSI).

Our distillation columns could turn-out some great hooch too, and we used primitive (by today's standards) slab-gel and capillary electrophoresis to isolate pigments to restore antique wood finishes.

Ah, how times have changed. We weren't hacking, building bombs, or engineering chemical/biological weapons--we could have, but that wasn't the mentality at the time. Pretty-much everything that we do for "good", these days, gets hi-jacked for "evil".

"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
