Hybrid might be the way to go, but you have to look at what you're really buying...

...if you're actually concerned about saving the planet and/or reducing fuel costs out of your wallet. I own an EV (Tesla Model S) and a hybrid (SF90 Stradale).

I'll just start with the fact that my crew-cab diesel 4X4 Silverado truck gets the same or better combined/highway fuel mileage as the hybrid SF90. It ain't exactly a Prius by any means.

As I've posted in a previous thread, there are electric "guzzlers", just like there are "gas-guzzlers". My 2019 Tesla has a range of ~390 miles on a full charge on it's 95 kWh battery (a new one is rated at a little over 400 miles). In contrast, a brand new Porsche Taycan with a nearly-equivalent 93 kWh battery can barely eek-out 250 miles of range?

You look at some of these hybrid SUVs, and they've only got a handful of miles of all-electric range, or like many hybrids, the electric motors are only used to "boost" the hp/torque of the ICE drivetrain.

I've also mentioned/criticized our (the collective "our") development of EVs and hybrids. They're mostly expensive/TOTL/halo vehicles with more emphasis on performance and/or "public image", rather than efficiency.
