...as the wage increases we've seen over the last year or two? However, it is slightly less than the most recent inflation numbers.
Consumer debt has always been an "issue", but most of it is "self-inflicted" by irresponsible borrowers--especially when interest rates are nil, and lending practices are "relaxed"--we've seen this movie before.
I don't know anyone who is buying groceries on credit because they have to. I do know lots of folks that are paying rent or mortgages on homes far larger than what they actually need/utilize. I know lots of folks that drive "excessive" vehicles, way beyond their needs. I'm perfectly willing to admit to being guilty--but mine are all paid-for. There are rooms upstairs that I haven't been in for months. There's a fleet of vehicles out in the barn/shop that I don't "need".
But what the hell?--look at our gov't printing money and mailing checks. Why would you expect the average person to be any more responsible?
"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
