...and in some respects, you're correct. However, "parents" should be held accountable. Your 14 year-old is out at 2 am in a stolen car with a stolen gun--you should be sharing a cell. You can't make breakfast for your kid--even though you don't work and receive SNAP benefits--take the kid and put it in the custody of the state--even prisoners get 3 hots and a cot provided to them.
Just tired of the welfare state that we are headed for. Some of us managed to pay for and feed our own children. My parents did. My wife and I did. It's certainly not impossible.
