"It seems like 33kWh/100 miles."
Well--that one is up for debate, as well. Just like there are "gas-guzzlers", there are "electric-guzzlers".
I have a 2019 Tesla Model S with ~390 miles of range. The newest model has increased that to 405 miles.
Comparison of two EVs--a new Model S long-range has a 95 kWh battery and a range of 405 miles. A new Porsche Taycan Turbo S has a 93 kWh battery and a range of only 250 miles. Virtually identical battery capacities, but the Porsche only has ~65% range per kWh.
And just like an ICE vehicle--consumption is based on demand. If you drive like every stoplight is drag-strip run, batteries discharge more rapidly, just like gas gets consumed more rapidly.
If you get stuck in a traffic jam for hours, an EV continues to discharge the battery to run the HVAC and all of the infotainment systems, just like an idling ICE vehicle consumes fuel to do the same.
Not all EVs are the epitome of efficiency, and there's no "free-lunch", so to speak.
"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
