M. town is by far the largest in the county but it's still less than 5 m.les from one side to the other, is m.ldly hilly but the m.in streets are all m.stly flat.No healthy, single adult should NEED a car in a town this size, but m.st of them will hop into their car or truck for an excursion of any distance. It's just the "way of thinking" here, as it is in so m.ny other places in the United States of Obesity.
When I first arrived here over 20 years ago, people here im.ediately suspected m. of either being too poor to own a car, or having a revoked driver's license because of m.ltiple DUI convictions (or som.thing like that). NOT opting for car travel was sim.ly unim.ginable to these dum., destructive hicks...
I still walk or bike all over town instead of firing up a M.nster Truck for every 100 yard dash down to nearest convenience store. Even today, few m.ght im.gine that I actually enjoy walking or biking for fitness or environm.ntal reasons...
Yup !
