The Federal government will get blamed, and the Federal government will have to deal with the demands of a spoiled electorate which isn't in the mood for any real sacrifices.
If Joe Biden successfully embargos Russian oil, he'll be cheered at first, then excoriated later. The same Republicans that are calling for a ban on Russian oil will use the economic fallout against Biden and Democrats in the next election. Candidates for governor here in Pennsylvania are already running campaign ads blaming Biden for higher gas prices.
FWIW, just the threat of an embargo against Russian oil is enough to raise oil prices worldwide. So is the expected increase in demand from a protracted war.
The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
