I saw a video that they are working on some sort of fingerprint reader for the gun like on a laptop that only the registered owner can unlock the safety with his fingerprint. Presumably, you can have multiple fingerprints say for your wife/partner to also operate it. Hey at least someone is attempting some sort of practical solution that can at least stop the family's 5-year old from blowing his brains out accidentally.
But alas, it's still just a variation on a lock and all locks can be bypassed by someone really motivated. But it could stop the crazies and that's not nothing.
