The problem with some posters is they say things behind their computer screens they would not dare to say to someone's face. Calling people whiners or snowflakes for example. The thing is, what I say to someone on a forum I will say to their face (assuming they don't have a gun) because that's another thing they need in order to be brave.
Not long back I was on a bus here in HK with an American Trumper and he usually starts going on some rant about the "China Virus" or the "Gillette Feminism commercial" or how Trump was definitely going to get re-elected (lol) or some such rubbish. I usually nod and let it go.
I mean I try to move away from this guy but I guess he has no friends or anyone to talk to so he usually bombards me with this nonsense. He looks like those simpletons with the red hats who get interviewed and always wind up looking ridiculous.
Anyway, he said something racist and I called him out and stood nose to nose and called him a fucking moron. Well, he didn't like that and I could see him getting angry and clenching his fist as if to belt me. But he's not in America - no guns in Hong Kong so, of course, he slinked away like a little bitch.
The advantage of real-life is one can see these creeps and walk the other way. On a forum where you try to talk to upstanding, moral and ethical, and high-quality human beings, you are stuck with the likes of E-Stat, TWB, Inmate51 and others who normally you'd emigrate to avoid.
In real life, I do not associate with racists, misogynists, book burners, people who try to stop the teaching of history (FFS!!) and the fact of Evolution, and who support giving trillions of dollars to billionaires but no money for starving children or the elderly.
With forums, unlike real life, you have to sort of stomach the awful to get to the good. Albeit this subforum has a lot more awful than I normally like.
