Celebrity Crush (5)

Another from back in my childhood.

Louise Jameson played Leela on Doctor Who. She was the Doctor's companion and the stories followed the Pygmailian trope where the doctor was teaching her to be less "savage" and not to kill everyone. This follows in my theme of women not always being in need of saving.

They followed Leela up with Romana who scored better in academics than the Doctor and she was his intellectual equal (or superior). A lot of comedy was mined in this run of Doctor Who some of which were written by the famed Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy).

I loved this short clip of the Doctor explaining to Leela how the T.A.R.D.I.S. actually works. And of course, her response pokes fun at the science fantasy show's science. Of course, Doctor Who is science fantasy, not science fiction so unlike a Star Trek, the technical aspect is never really discussed again in the series.
