Inmate Central, where civil and family-friendly discourse about off-audio topics (other than religion and politics) is welcome.

It varies....

USC or Stanford will run around $80,000 a year. UCLA for instate students was about $19,000 a year for tuition and $1,000-1,500 a month room and board. Westwood is insanely expensive. My son choose UCLA with an Air Force ROTC scholarship for tuition which only paid in full for state schools. He also got a stipend of $300 that went up over time to $500 his senior year.

My other son went to a JC ($700/yr) and lived at home. On transferring to a Cal State school, tuition is and $7,000 a year. Room and board is still about $1,500 a month, but you're only paying it for 2 or 3 years.

It would be real easy to borrow $250K or more which would also be financial disastrous. No one really cares if you went to Harvard other than snobs.
