Some folks are way more cynical than me :)
I suppose one's experiences play a role - my folks were married for over 30 years and it took death for them to part. Albeit that was a different generation in a less disposable society.
I do get the appeal of living alone and being an alpha.
But a lot of guys who have been married to western women and have become disenchanted with the notion of marriage - a lot of them have married successfully to Filipinas.
It's a different culture but also closely linked to the USA. I highly recommend Americans take a vacation to the Philippines - especially men who are divorced or widowed. Divorce is illegal in the Philippines - the only place in the world outside the Vatican apparently.
Yes, there are plenty of hookers you have to avoid. But, the women tend to be hard workers and look after their guys. They cook, clean, like sex not just doing it as a chore.
A lot of older 60ish western guys have said they would never touch a western woman ever again after being with the Filipina.
Their English is generally strong as well and they don't mind that much if you want to be in an open relationship.
So there are some advantages
