I live right across the street from a country club too--their property was once part of the family farm of which I and my neighbor own the remaining homesteads.
Now I'll ask these other folks--who's being "judgmental" now? You don't have to live in "the ghetto" to receive SNAP benefits. You lose your job, get laid-up with a medical issue, are retired/disabled on a minimal fixed income, or simply meet the income requirements for the size of your household, you can receive SNAP benefits. That's what they're there for. I've seen little old ladies (probably from the local senior community) using food stamp cards--good for them! Better than seeing them with a cart full of cat food--and they don't own a cat.
OTOH, they don't have a cart full of T-bones, Hot Pockets, Doritos and 6 cases of Mt. Dew. It's more like canned soups, canned veggies, pasta, and cheaper cuts of meat. They know what they're doing, and they appreciate, rather than expect, the help.
"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
