work at a job that took her hours on public transportation to arrive at and then return? When someone takes the time to point out welfare cheats, and they say nothing about the VAST number of deserving, it can be taken as a broad-brush damning of the entire class--- sorry.
Can we agree that no one willingly is impoverished? That the overwhelming number of poor parents want a better life for their kids? That social and psychological circumstances create horrible outcomes?
Your obvious success in life is a good story. How about if your mom had a drug problem, with NO help available? With no relatives to help out? Or that she lived in a neighborhood so dangerous that her life would have been threatened if she went out after dark? I've lived in neighborhoods like that. Yeah, there were success stories, but it was a primitive dog-eat-dog existence for most. This, in the richest country the world ever has seen. If that's not immoral, what possibly could be?
