...Americans (of all races) eat way too much "garbage"--overly processed, nutrient deficient prepared foods, and fast-food from the drive-thru. Perhaps microwave manufacturers and the NFPA (National Food Processors Association) should be held accountable? Isn't that the "Dumerican Way"--blame someone else?
And I'm tired of hearing that low-income people can't afford "real" food. I shop wisely, and cook pretty-much every day from scratch--I know what it costs to prepare my meals. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than hitting-up the drive-thru or buying frozen dinners, and it's actually nutritionally balanced--a protein, a starch and a vegetable/fruit. I just had oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, and it cost less than an Egg McMuffin. The last time (a rarity--and I was half-sick for two days) that I ate fast-food it cost me ~$12 (not ordering off the dollar-menu). Just the other day, I made lobster/fettuccini primavera for three of us for ~$10/plate, and there were still leftovers.
The "boomers" are a huge population demographic, and their time is running-out. Covid took-out a lot of them early-on in the pandemic. I'm sure that has some effect on the mortality-rate.
"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
