because the transportation is outstanding so people can move around quickly - there are a lot of people but they move well. Rarely are there traffic jams due to the roundabouts and a LOT of double-deckers.

Cars have the right of way so that aids in a lack of constant stopping for pedestrians.

Plus the people live vertically not horizontally so there is generally a lot of space for people. But the buildings are 50-60-70 stories high.
