Medicare Advantage means that you've got 'private' insurance that the Medicare system pays the premium on directly to the carrier
then you're in either an HMO or PPO policy subject to in and out of network expenses, deductibles, pre approvals, claim denials, premium hikes and all the other foibles of a policy you're used to ... and you've opted out of 'regular' Medicare ...but right now as it stands if you wanted to opt back in later Medicare can basically treat you like any insurance company on preexisting conditions, whereas if you opt in and stay in, once eligible, they can't
you'll be getting booklets from Medicare laying everything out as you approach eligibility and things could change so it's best to review that upon eligibility
Supplemental plans are just that, an insurance plan to 'plug the holes' of what isn't covered by Medicare and add prescription drugs not covered by the system + optical and dental ... with the usual premium / deductible trade-offs ... their terms & costs etc. are variable & subject to change
