RE: LOL. Yeah, its all Buttigieg's fault.

"Do you really think Pete has no communication with his dept. when not in D.C.?"

Never said that, and again, and more to the point, have we heard from Secretary Buttigieg, have we heard a peep from Deputy Secretary Polly Trottenberg regarding the supply chain issue during this period of time?

"He didn't have to "appoint" anybody, Trottenberg is his deputy."

As l said in my previous post "The Deputy Secretary is Polly Trottenberg. Have we heard a peep from her regarding the supply chain issue during this period of time?"

"I notice you had zilch to say about the time Trump spent playing golf - which was waaaay more than Pete's paternity leave - nor the money it cost tax payers."

So, your argument is that no one can criticize an official of the current administration? (BTW, as it should have been obvious, I was criticizing the apparent lack of solutions by Secretary Pete Buttigieg and the Department of Transportation, not him taking FMLA leave) Or, no one can criticize something that an official of the current administration does or doesn't do without comparing it to something that Trump did during his administration? (Oh, another BTW, I'm an independent, never voted for Trump, and voted for Tulsi Gabbard in 2020) But, but, but Trump did this. But, but, but Trump did that! Is that your contention, your argument? An irrelevant distraction. A red herring logical fallacy and you more than likely know that, or you should. But, I also know that sometimes emotions can override logic. I get it. So revel in your emotions if you must, just know that in argument it can be a logical fallacy, a distraction. ("A red herring is a fallacy argument that distracts from the original topic. Some may refer to this type of argument as a "smoke screen." https://examples.yourdictionary.com/red-herring-examples.html )

"Somehow I doubt you'd be in favor of Biden negating state laws in other areas *by non-existent* powers of executive order, such as:

National vaccine mandate for everyone in the country/abortion laws/criminal sentences/gerrymandering/voter restrictions. But now you think the Biden administration should:

"Review state laws which may be restricting the hiring of employees in supply chain industry. ..."

So, you asked me for suggestions. Less than 7 hours after you asked me for my suggestions, I gave you my suggestions after stating "Above my pay grade, but off the top of my head", suggestions to be considered, consideration which would includes whether they are legal or not and whether they would require legislation. If supply chain disruptions were declared a national emergency then the National Emergencies Act would allow the President to use emergency powers, if enumerated.

"Suspend, at least temporarily, interstate regulations prohibiting certain commercial drivers from driving outside of a state."

BTW - what laws prevent driving from one state to another? Even cab drivers can do that. You might wanna check this link....

https://jointhefleet.co/what-you-need-to-cross-state-lines-as-a-truck-driver/ "

Great! What I thought was a problem actually does not exist.

Oh, wait a minute, I suggested we "Suspend, at least temporarily, interstate regulations prohibiting certain commercial drivers from driving outside of a state."

From the https://jointhefleet.co/what-you-need-to-cross-state-lines-as-a-truck-driver/ article that you linked: "Even if your state allows you to get your CDL before turning 21, federal law prevents you from operating a commercial vehicle across state lines. If a commercial driver under the age of 21 takes their vehicle into a different state, they are committing a federal driving offense. For this reason, younger commercial drivers must stick to intrastate driving until they are 21 or older.".

The "certain commercial drivers" are commercial drivers under the age of 21. Oh well, problem not solved after all, but thank you for providing the information which spells out what I meant by "certain commercial drivers".

"Review state laws which may be restricting the hiring of employees in supply chain industry."

States would have to review these laws, at the suggestion of and in cooperation with the White House Administration or if supply chain disruptions were declared a national emergency then Presidential emergency powers, if enumerated by the National Emergencies Act could come into play.

"In short, I realize you'd enjoy blaming the current administration for the problems affecting the supply chain WORLDWIDE but I suspect the Dept. of Trans. might now a bit more than you about this problem."

I'm not "blaming the current administration for the problems affecting the supply chain WORLDWIDE", I'm holding them accountable for solutions.

"I suspect the Dept. of Trans. might now a bit more than you about this problem." One would hope so.

Now, if only you could be as critical of Transportation Secretary Buttegieg as you are of me. Just joking. LOL. :-) At least I had some solution ideas "off the top of my head", less than 7 hours after being asked for my suggestions, and even though it is "above my pay grade". Just sayin'.
