I think we've chatted about this before, but a childhood friend of my father's grew up to be the head of excavations for the Gilcrease Museum of American History in Tulsa, Oklahoma. My father was an avid and passionate amateur archeologist interested in the indigenous peoples of North America for most of his life.As a young kid I got drug along with dad to visit digs his friend might be conducting that summer in our area of the Midwest. Hot, dirty, sweaty, and fun. Anyway, dad's museum friend always said he was pretty sure people had been here longer than the 10k to 12k years that was the common idea at the time. He just hadn't found the evidence yet.
If older evidence exists, I'm pretty sure they're not going to find it anywhere near Clovis, New Mexico. The Pacific Northwest would be a better bet, or maybe in Chile.
