RE: Solar Panels Going Up Today

Congrats Abe, I'm a fan of solar. What did you go with for inverter(s)?

I do this stuff myself, and agree with the roof comment. The equipment itself is plug and play, anyone can install it. The important thing is that they know roofs.

You mentioned made in USA, I have been using REC panels, silicon for the panels was grown in USA. And Enphase inverters, US company, but the inverters are manufactured in Mexico.

One thing to watch out for is your power company rates. Here in AZ they have rates for solar, that charge quite a bit for late afternoon, early evening when solar produces little and there is a lot of consumption. What some people do here in the summer is to set their thermostats to much lower temperatures while the panels are producing and then back up as the sun gets lower. The house stays cool, it is basically a way of storing energy.
