to my memory, the Maverick felt more substantial and heavier in comparison to the Pinto (which was my car). The rusting was never an issue here in CA as it would be in the east. I'm 6'1" and I don't remember the leg crowding issue with the Maverick and I am VERY sensitive to that given my size and complain about it constantly even more so in todays vehicles. It didn't matter really as I didn't have access to either one for very long because when my Mother heard about the Pinto's exploding gas tank she made my Father get rid of it and the Maverick and he bought a fleet of matching Ford Courier pickups for us to drive and use and he wrote them off on his business. THOSE were great! Throw a couple of blankets in the back and head out to the local orange groves on a nice So. Cal. evening with a date for a memorable evening under a moonlit sky... Ah yes, those were the days....
