Stairs and extra trips....

Our house is a flight of stairs no matter which way you go. When I had one of those pedometers, I was doing about 10,000 steps a day just doing projects and maintenance. A lot of the extra steps were just going back and forth to the basement to get one tool or another or just looking for the tool we were using and left somewhere.

This is the latest couple week project that we'd thought would take 4 days or so. Scribing the flooring into the rock wall added a lot of time.

Of course, we forgot the time to pull, paint and replace the base. Put in new transitions and thresholds for three doors. Restore and trim a 1930s French door that needed new hinges and fix the sagging. And resheet another door and trim the bottom for the new threshold. Moving the old cabinets was a disaster and we had add bracing to keep them from falling over, typical pressboard with Ikea type fasteners that break apart if tweaked at all. And finally, the wife wanted us to paint a metal filing cabinet and its companion metal storage cabinet. Now, I get to rest for a while after I put everything in that was the other rebuilt cabinets which are our Costco shelves.
