Yes that is something to be concerned about the VVT. Keep it full! Newer engines burn oil like it or not. The 3.6 is bad about this. About 80K miles is where they seem to start consuming higher amounts of oil. The many 3.6 engines I have torn down have the bank 2 cylinder head and VVT actuators discolored due to heat from oil starvation. The fact they eliminated oil level indication systems on these engines is the beyond me and other techs I know.
