FWIW, a close friend of my older brother is/was a petroleum engineer who was on the original team of engineers that developed Mobil 1 nearly 40 years ago. The guy, Paul, told me not long after they introduced Mobil 1, that based on their testing that oil was good for 15,000 miles at least.No reason to doubt him, but I never pushed it past 6,000 miles. There for several years, when I had the Dakota, I was putting on less than 1,500 per year, so I only changed it once per year.
That Dakota had 183,000 miles on it when I sold it and it ran as good as it did when new. No smoke, nada. The only oil it used was what dripped out around the drain plug cause I was too lazy put new crush-ring washers whenever I changed it.
